The Organisation

Engineers Ireland is the professional body for engineers and engineering in Ireland. With over 23,000 members across the island of Ireland and overseas, we focus on the promotion and development of all disciplines of engineering, working collaboratively with industry, educational institutions, state bodies and the public service. As one of the country’s largest and longest established professional bodies, we liaise closely with the engineering community to act as the voice of the profession and to promote excellence through a programme of ongoing accredited professional development and certification.

In addition, Engineers Ireland has an objective to grow and retain its membership and in the process also deliver a comprehensive range of services that will support our members and enable their professional progression both in Ireland and abroad. The Membership Team is central to Engineers Ireland delivering on these objectives.

The Membership Team

The Membership Team works across business and academia to identify the maximum number of prospect members and the maximum conversion of these prospects into membership, and thereafter the renewal of their membership. The Team also manages the process of interviews for registered professional titles and the provision of support to the activities of our 32 membership groupings comprised of Regions, Divisions and Societies. In addition, Team members manage a portfolio of key events including member information evenings, training for interviewers and conferring of professional titles.

The diversification and expansion of new and existing member pipelines is critical to delivering on our membership growth KPIs. The Team’s business development activities encompass an extensive range of activities focused on the identification of prospects and sign up of new members from multiple existing pipelines that straddle businesses in the
public and private sectors. The Team also has an extensive programme of engagement with students on undergraduate engineering programmes in third level colleges throughout Ireland.

The Role

  • An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Team for the appointment of a Membership Development Executive. This role is a two year fixed term contract.
  • Main duties and responsibilities of the Membership Development Executive:
  • Actively contribute to the Membership Team achieving its membership growth and retention KPIs across targeted business sectors and third level institutions
  • Drive the acquisition of students and new members by identifying new avenues and opportunities for growth and inputting to the development and implementation of student and member acquisition plans
  • Actively generate membership leads and convert these into membership
  • Confidently communicate the benefits of membership to students and prospect members, respond to their queries and close the sale
  • Deliver accurate, high quality responses to existing members’ and prospect members’ requests made by phone, email and personal interaction
  • Apply the same high level of attention to detail for all membership activities
  • Support the Membership Team in the delivery of student, prospect and member focused events and activities.
  • Gather marketing and company profile information from site visits and feed back to HQ teams

Personal Qualities

  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative, energy and motivation, with a proven track record of successful selling
  • A Self- starter and a Team player, with the ability to work independently and as a member of a Team
  • Strong sales and influencing skills, with a proven ability to manage the delivery of concurrent campaigns in a busy and challenging environment
  • Excellent level of conscientiousness and accuracy in all written and verbal communications
  • The ability to review your performance in order to meet or exceed targets
  • Knowledge of working across a range of on-line platforms and technologies is required
  • Ability to confidently discuss and advise on all aspects of Engineers Ireland’s Membership offerings
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across teams and at all levels
  • Flexible as regard to working hours.

A full clean driving licence and own transport is a requirement. Travel and other associated expenses will be reimbursed.
