Engineers Ireland is the representative body for professional engineers in Ireland. We currently have over 25,000 members and through our strong links with industry, academia and government we advocate on behalf of the profession on policy matters of national interest. We also provide services to support the professional development of our members in Ireland and overseas.

Many of our member events and professional development activities are held at our headquarters in Dublin 4 which has a range of conference and training facilities including meeting rooms, catering facilities and a 130 seat theatre.

We now have a vacancy for an Operations Team Leader who will be responsible for the day-to-day management of building operations and facilities, and managing contracts for services outsourced to 3rd parties. This is a varied role which will report to the Director of Operations & Finance and which will have one direct report.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Contract and Procurement Management

  • Manage the relationship with third party providers, ensuring that building services (eg. cleaning, restaurant service, reception, security, IT etc) are delivered in accordance with service level agreements
  • Negotiate contracts for supply of goods and services ensuring that these provide value for money.

Premises & Facilities Management

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of the building infrastructure including mechanical and electrical systems, liaising with 3rd providers and internal and external stakeholders, as required.
    IT Management
  • In conjunction with Director of Finance & Operations develop an organisation-wide ICT plan aligned with business objectives
  • Ensure the integrity, security and day-to-day operational efficiency of the organisation’s communication and IT systems, liaising with 3rd party IT service provider as required
  • Ensure the organisation’s membership database is managed securely and efficiently and in line with business objectives
  • Manage the work and objectives of our Network Executive.

Project Management

  • In conjunction with Director of Finance & Operations, update and deliver the organisation’s capital expenditure programme; this would include the renovation of and improvements to the building, part of which is a listed structure.

Candidate Requirements

  • Have at least 2 years’ relevant experience working within a similar environment
  • Experience in managing projects and budgets
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; experienced in building strong, collaborative internal and external relationships
  • You will be self-directed, with the ability to prioritise and manage your work load efficiently
  • You don’t need to be an IT expert, but you do need to be ‘tech savvy’
  • You will have commercial acumen and strong negotiation skills.

The role will be based at our headquarters at 22 Clyde Road, Dublin and will run on a fixed-term basis of 2 years.
