Engineers Ireland Awards CPD Accredited Employer Standard To Boston Scientific Clonmel

Boston Scientific Clonmel has been awarded the much sought after CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Accredited Employer standard by Engineers Ireland.

Boston Scientific established its Clonmel operation in 1998. The site specialises in the development, manufacture and distribution of implantable pacemakers and defibrillators for the company’s cardiac rhythm management business. The site also supports certain products for the neuromodulation division.

Commenting on the achievement, John Power, the director general of Engineers Ireland said: “I want to pay tribute to everybody in Boston Scientific Clonmel on achieving this significant and highly regarded award. Boston Scientific continuously invests in its engineers, which has led to benefits both in the international markets it serves and the communities in which it operates. First established in Ireland in 1994, Boston Scientific has grown to be one of the largest medical device employers in the country. Through its three Irish sites – located in Clonmel, Cork and Galway - the company exports approximately 10 million medical devices worldwide annually, including stents, balloons, platinum coils, catheters, inflation devices, pacemakers and ICDs. The Irish manufacturing operation is an integral part of the corporation’s manufacturing strategy and capability.

The Boston Scientific Clonmel facility staff includes engineers and technicians working across the engineering disciplines of mechanical, electrical, software and chemical.
