Egis is the majority shareholder in MidLink M7/M8 Ltd which is the operations and maintenance contractor for Celtic Roads Group (Portlaoise) DAC.  The above engineering position would support the MidLink Engineering & Maintenance Team based at the plaza outside Portlaoise. 
In addition, there would be opportunities to work on other EPIR projects in Ireland including SouthLink N25 Ltd in Waterford in the first instance and potentially other national/international projects in the future as opportunities emerge.
MidLink is responsible not only for the operation of the 14-lane toll collection system for the M7/M8 PPP project, but also for all routine maintenance activities on 41km of dual two-lane motorway on the Dublin to Limerick (M7) & Cork (M8) Motorways.  Routine maintenance includes, inter alia, routine inspection of the assets, response to emergency incidents, all road and landscape maintenance activities, traffic management, severe weather response and winter maintenance.
The role supports the Maintenance Manager in all civil, traffic and transportation related matters in order for MidLink to fulfil its contractual obligations. 
The position reports to the Maintenance Manager and the General Manager as required.
Principal activities include:-
  • Management of the ongoing operation of the Routine Maintenance Management System (RMMS) in order to monitor & record all maintenance related activities on the Project Road.  This includes scheduling all road and safety inspections required under the Contract and maintaining records of same;
  • Identify and categorise defects and produce Works Orders for the repair of these defects as well as all cyclic activities.  All defects to be repaired in accordance with contract timescales;
  • Co-ordinating maintenance activities with the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure delivery of Project goals;
  • Assist in the inspection and maintenance of structures;
  • Liaise with third parties including Client Agents, local authorities, Gardai, sub-contractors and the public as required; 
  • Preparing performance reports related to operations and maintenance activities in accordance with contractual requirements. 
  • Management and maintenance of Information Technology System for SOS Emergency Roadside Telephones and traffic counters;
  • Responsible for the management of subcontractors and third-party service providers in respect of procurement and valuations including the review & approval of method statements & risk assessments;
  • Supervising subcontractors during various works on the Project Road including pavement, safety barrier and lighting repairs; 
  • Develop and revise company procedures and method statements attending and assisting in contract audits as required
  • Traffic Management - design, risk assessment and approval of Temporary Traffic Management schemes in accordance with relevant legislation (Chapter 8) and best practice;
  • Temporary Safety Measures Inspections in accordance with TII/NRA Standards;
  • Prepare and manage third party Insurance Claims for damage to the Project Road infrastructure;
  • Performing the role of winter maintenance engineer on a rotational basis as decision maker for multiple sites during the winter season;

For this exciting civil engineering position, we are looking for a candidate who possesses:-

  • Degree (to at least a Level 8 standard as recognised by the Irish National Framework of Qualifications) in Civil Engineering or equivalent;
  • Road maintenance operations experience would be beneficial;
  • High standard of computer, writing, analytical and numeric skills
  • Experience in computer-aided design packages such as AutoCAD, BricsCAD would be highly desirable;
  • Excellent organisation ability;
  • Ability to work on own initiative;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic;
  • Adaptable and flexible;
  • Ability to meet reporting deadlines;
  • Full Clean Driving Licence (Class B).
