About the speakers
Simon Dennehy is the CEO and founder of Perch. With a Degree and Masters in Industrial Design and ten years experience, Simon's ongoing PhD with NCAD is very much intertwined with the origins of his company. Since 2006, Simon has been studying the postural implications of poorly designed school furniture. His designs have the potential to revolutionise the market and have been internationally recognised by industry leaders. Perch has partnered with Danish furniture giant Labofa, who have commercialised his work. Simon also manages an FP7 project entitled TFE (Task Furniture in Education), which won €1.25million within NCAD, focusing on the betterment of design for education.
Perch is an industrial design company who partner with clients to develop, create and nurture new ideas, identities and exciting products that challenge conventional thinking. Darren Flanagan is Managing Partner in his own chartered accountancy firm DMFN. Darren graduated from IT Tallaght with a first class honours degree in Accounting and Finance in 1998. He entered into the Institute of Chartered Accountants training route and qualified in a medium sized practice in 2001. After seven years in practice, he spent two years as Finance Director of a group of companies in the construction and hotel and leisure sectors. After gaining valuable legal and commercial experience, Darren left this post to start up his own practice when in 2006, as a sole practitioner, he founded Flanagan & Associates. In 2008, Darren took in a fellow Institute member, Michael Naddy, as a partner and they formed DMFN. Darren has extensive audit experience and due to his industry background, has a very commercial and practical outlook on business. With over 11 years experience in accounting and consulting roles, Darren has built a vast knowledge of taxation, auditing, accounting, information technology, legal and commercial issues. DMFN is a growing firm of Chartered Accountants whose main objective is quality of service. About the event
This lecture, being held in association with the Chartered Accountants Young Professionals, will involve an engineer discussing their experience of setting up their own company starting with how they came up with the idea, supports that are available, particular challenges and how they overcome them.
A chartered accountant with extensive experience in new company formation will speak about the financial and legal requirement aspects of setting up your own company.
