About the Event

The lecture will give insight into the BioInnovate Medical Device Innovation Training Programme where multidisciplinary teams work together to identify under-met clinical needs that align with a good market opportunity, invent solutions to meet those needs and develop a plan for the commercialisation of the technology.  The impact and potential of this programme for innovators and innovations in the med tech sector are discussed.  BioInnovate Ireland www.bioinnovate.ie are currently recruiting experienced innovative engineers, clinicians and business professionals for the 2013-2014 Fellowship programme.
 

About the Speaker

Dr Mark Bruzzi is the Director of the BioInnovate Ireland medical device innovation training programme.  BioInnovate Ireland is a multidisciplinary programme focusing on medical device product development from clinical needs identification, market validation, prototype development and business planning.
 
Dr Bruzzi is also a lecturer in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at NUI Galway, and is currently the principle investigator in a wide variety of projects with the medical device industry – focussing on product development, process development and the performance of medical devices in physiological environments. Dr Bruzzi has successfully licensed some of these technologies to the medical device sector.  He has also over 50 journal and conference publications in the area of performance of engineering and biomedical materials, three published patent applications and one granted patent.
