Delivering SuDS Exemplar in Public Realm: Bridget Joyce Square, Belfast
About this event
The Bridget Joyce Square (Australia Road) SuDS project in Hammersmith and Fulham was initially conceived as an urban renewal scheme, which took a new lease of life when the potential to fully integrate a landscape SuDS system was realised. SuDS on the scheme don't just facilitate a drainage function; instead they have been elevated to form the focal point of the scheme.
The scheme has now received a number of awards, in particular an ICE award for Community Impact. The Client and civil engineer designer will both present their side of the story on how the idea was conceived and the journey of how the design evolved to successful delivery on the ground. Presenters will discuss the various obstacles around SuDS which were overcome through the technical design and will touch upon the real impact to residents living day to day with the scheme.
