This, the second lecture of the Region's 2012-2013 season, will provide professional expert interpretation of recent changes in Irish Planning Law relating to EIA’s and AA’s. This lecture will be of interest to engineers, scientists, planners and legal professionals.

About the speaker

Dr Yvonne Scannell, MA LL.M.(Cantab), PhD, LL.D. (hc) is a professor in the Law School, Trinity College Dublin where she specialises in Irish and European Environmental Law and Policy. She served on the Advisory Board to the Environmental Protection Agency from 1994 to 1997.  She practices as an Environmental Lawyer with Arthur Cox, Ireland’s leading environmental law firm, since 1980.  She has been consistently rated at one of the top environmental practitioners in Ireland by “PLC Which Lawyer?” and “Legal 500”.  Dr Scannell has written six books and numerous articles on Environmental Law.  She is a member of the European Council for Environmental Law, the Avocetta Group and a founder member of the Irish Association of Environmental Lawyers. She was on the Summer Faculty of Vermont Law School, the top Environmental Law School in the USA, from 2008 - 2012.
