About the event

A €3 million upgrade and refurbishment of the Foxes Den Water Treatment Plant completed in 2017 aims to meet the current
water demand in Sligo whilst also providing capacity to meet future development needs. The current Foxes Den Plant, which
takes its raw water from Lough Gill, is now considered ‘state of the art’ and delivers approximately 11 million litres of drinking
water per day to the Sligo area, at a quality that complies with national and European Drinking Water Regulations as well as
Irish Water’s own process and engineering standards. Here’s your chance to see it all first hand…

This lunchtime site visit provides an excellent opportunity to visit this key piece of infrastructure, to hear from the operators
of the plant, and to see the key stages of the water treatment process including pre‐dosing, flocculation, clarification,
filtration, fluoridation and chlorination.
