About the event

The Energy Storage presentation will consist of three parts:

  1. Introduction:
The role and importance of energy storage, particularly in relation to Ireland where we will continue to have high penetration of intermittent energy in order to meet Government renewable targets
  1. Energy Storage (technologies, applications, capacities):
This section will provide a good understanding of the role of future energy storage worldwide as we face the challenges of climate change, and move from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources - mainly wind and solar. It will cover the many uses of storage including system support/recovery, load shifting, arbitrage etc.
  1. Virtual Tour of Schwungrad Energie Demostration Project in Rhode:
Describing the overall concept and objectives of this project, together with the programme of work, tests and results. It will explain the role of EirGrid and the joint report issued. The virtual tour will include photographs/short video of the technology and applications employed to give an understanding of the original project and its follow-on work.
