This presentation will focus on the developments in Energy Storage in Ireland and the UK - applications of storage, benefits and challenges from the perspective of the asset owner, the journey of battery storage and future outlook.

About the speaker

John Rafferty - ESB Emerging Technologies
John is an electrical engineer working in Emerging Energy Technologies with ESB Innovation. He has over 8 years' experience in power systems engineering including renewable project delivery, academia and applied research. He has been a specialist engineer for several ESB battery energy storage projects in the UK and Ireland, including in-front-of-the-meter battery systems, hybrid battery storage and renewables projects, and pilots in the area of EV charging/ battery storage co-location and co-ordination. He is also chair of the ESB Battery Storage Collaboration group.

John graduated with a Masters in electrical and electronic engineering and has a Doctorate in electrical engineering from Queens University Belfast.
