About the event

This is a joint event with NAWIC Ireland - an organisation of women working in the construction industry and comprises of two presentations during which Fiona Forde will give an overview of the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations 2012 followed by Michael Slattery presenting developments to Fire Safety Standards and what this means to you.

About the speakers

Fiona Forde BL is a practising Barrister specialising in building and construction law.  A Mechanical Engineer, Fiona is experienced in both contentious and non-contentious construction work.  Fiona trained in London with the legal team of a large international consulting engineering firm before becoming the legal adviser to their Irish offices.  Called to the Irish Bar in 2002, Fiona lectures on the Postgraduate Diploma in Construction Law and Contract Administration in TCD.

Michael Slattery has over 30 years Fire Safety Engineering experience. He is a former Chairman of Engineers Ireland’s Fire and Safety Division, is currently Chairman of the Fire Safety Standards committee of NSAI with involvement in the development of CEN standards and codes.  Michael has the scientific, engineering and fire service background and experience to enable him to provide professional consultancy services in all aspects of fire safety engineering and an in-depth knowledge and understanding of fire safety legislation and standards applying in Ireland and overseas.
