About the speaker:
Prof Hecht is a Professor at the Technische Universität Berlin and is one of only three professors in Germany specialising in rail vehicle construction & engineering. Since 2007 he has supported the Railway Industry Cluster Saxony (BTS) as the senior technical expert, taking a very active role in developing innovation strategy and projects among the cluster’s members. He is very active in the rail industry globally, holding eminent positions of expertise - Applied Professor at Tongji University Shanghai, China - Spokesman of the interdisciplinary research cluster, "Rail Technology Berlin” - Member of the innovation advisory board of SBB, Swiss State Railways - Deputy Head of the German research cluster, "Noise Reduced Transport" - Technical surveyor of the Swiss Accreditation Society, SAS - Member of EURNEX
About the event:
After a brief introduction to the Railway Industry Cluster Saxony (BTS) by the Project Manager, Dirk-Ulrich Krueger, Prof Hecht will give his keynote speech, covering a wide spectrum of the future technological challenges facing rail transport globally. These include new materials requirements, noise control, energy efficiency, passenger experience and the economic feasibility of rail infrastructure as applied to both urban light rail & mainliners. Prof Hecht’s speech provides an exciting opportunity for Irish companies and relevant academic institutions to get visibility of future market opportunities that could inform collaborative strategic research agendas in the future.
