Insurer’s attitude to building construction and fire protection with regard to property risk
About the event
Most buildings are designed and constructed to meet Building Regulations and Life Safety Standards.
Construction of a structure in compliance with building regulations alone may not always meet the property insurer’s requirements and a building may prove difficult and costly to insure if the construction and / or fire protection fails to meet an Insurer’s underwriting criteria.
Chartis, formerly AIG, is a leading international insurance organisation serving customers in more than 130 countries. They are a major insurer of large commercial properties in Ireland including offices, financial institutions, property owners, airports, hotels, restaurants, golf clubs and manufacturing risks. During this lecture, Liza Doyle will discuss Chartis construction and fire protection requirements. The presentation will be of interest to those involved in commissioning, designing, and specifying buildings including construction systems, construction materials, fire protection and fire detection. This will include engineers, architects, surveyors and developers. The lecture may also be of interest to those placing insurance with brokers and insurers.
Following the presentation, there will be time for questions and answers hosted by Liza Doyle and John Sheil, Head of Risk Engineering, Chartis Ireland.
