About the event

The Integrated Single Electricity Market (I-SEM) is the new wholesale electricity market arrangement for Ireland and Northern Ireland which came into effect in October 2018. The pre-existing market arrangements have been replaced by multiple markets or auctions, each spanning different trading time frames, with separate (although related) clearing and settlement mechanisms, covering both energy and non-energy commodities.

About the speaker

Brendan O’Sullivan is a Market Consultant with EirGrid. He has almost 30 years’ experience in the Irish electricity sector and has specialised in wholesale power markets for the last 10 years. After working on support systems for the transitional energy market, Brendan worked on the project to implement the ISEM and the previous SEM before joining the market operations team in SEMO.
