Unconventional Gas in Ireland

About the Event

Early indications show that the Leitrim/Fermanagh region could hold enough unconventional natural gas to supply Ireland’s needs for 12 years and provide a much needed stimulus to engineering jobs and investment in the energy sector. This could be a game-changer for supply in Ireland; currently 95% of gas demand is met by UK imports.  Richard Moorman CEO Tamboran Resources, who hold onshore exploration licences on both sides of the border, will discuss:

  • The potential and future benefits of the shale gas opportunity; including the employment potential for technically qualified personnel,
  • The hydraulic fracturing technology;
  • Their company’s ambitions and plans for Ireland

About the Speaker:

Richard Moorman is CEO of Tamboran Resources, a privately held Australian-based global unconventional oil and gas explorer with over 27 million acres held by permit or under application in Northern Ireland, Ireland, Australia and Botswana.  Richard has over 20 years of experience as a Professional Engineer and has been active in financial, operational and managerial capacities in shale gas plays across North America since 2004.  Richard worked alongside many of the early contributors to and leaders of the unconventional oil and gas technology revolution.

Richard is particularly focused on the early assessment of emerging shale gas plays and technologies.  Prior to joining Tamboran, Richard was Manager Strategic Analysis in the Economic Planning and Acquisitions division of Southwestern Energy (NYSE:SWN), one of North America's leading independent shale gas companies.  Prior to his work at Southwestern, Richard was Vice-President Corporate Development at Leor Energy LLC, a private US-based unconventional natural gas explorer in the Deep Bossier trend of East Texas.  Leor was sold to Encana in 2007.  Richard holds a BSc and a MBA from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.
