Overview

Applied Statistics is an elementary introduction to the growing field of statistics and its application in the world around us. This course will emphasize on the concepts, definitions and terminology in a practical manner to provide participants with a pragmatic understanding on the subject of statistics.

Course Aim

This two-day Applied Statistics course is intended to introduce the theories, explanations, and vocabulary of the subject in an elementary presentation with minimum mathematical background required. The purpose of the course is to prepare participants to make informed decisions based on data and data analysis in everyday situations.
 
During the course participants will learn how to utilise the statistical functions within Microsoft Excel to allow them to apply the learning to specially designed data sets (provided for attendees).
 
Participants will also receive reference files relating to course content after the course is completed.

Trainer's profile – Declan Cunningham

Since qualifying in 1984 with a BE (Civil) Hons from UCC, Declan Cunningham has worked in a variety of industries Ireland, UK, Europe and USA, before setting up his own management consultancy business specializing in transition and project management solutions.
 
He has more than 27 year’s national and international experience at senior level to transition management scenarios. He has a proven track record of solving complex problems in challenging environments with a variety of high value products, while building and integrating committed and motivated teams. Employing best practice models he has successfully driven many organisations to attain profitability. He has also used data and statistical analysis throughout his career to assist in process improvements and in better project management and forecasting.
 
He continues as a tutor in the Centre for Project Management for their Masters in Project Management Degree and has taught statistics at Masters level.

Terms and Conditions

Confirmation is subject to event fee being finalised. Cancellation fees calculated at 50% of the estimated total bill will be charge for confirmed bookings cancelled less than 5 working days prior to the date of the planned event. A replacement person can attend instead. Cancellations made the day prior to an event will be charged 75% of the total estimated bill. No-shows will be charged the full fee. All cancellations must be confirmed in writing by email. Engineers Ireland will not be liable for any costs in the event of a course being re-scheduled.  This applies, but is not limited, to any travelling, subsistence or consequential expenses incurred by delegates.
