Overview
Expert witness work is becoming more prevalent in Ireland, and has expanded beyond the remit of merely providing testimony in a witness box, and into a complex, and often convoluted process. This course aims to provide an introduction into what is expected from an expert witness, and each step along the way from dispute to cross-examination and determinations.
Course aim
This course is aimed at providing a comprehensive overview of how to give expert witness testimony, the preparation for trial and creation of documentation. This course will also cover expert witness work for professional engineers, and the practicalities of being an expert witness.
With changes in the law and the High Court Procedures coming into affect from 1st October 2016, the admitting and giving expert evidence is going to be impacted dramatically. This course gives a detailed overview of how the role of an expert witness will change, and what you can expect when you are asked to provide evidence.
This course will look at both the theory and practice behind giving expert witness testimony in all forms of dispute and ADR. It will also focus on the role of the witness and tips at how to develop skills when giving evidence. A mock cross-examination led by Mr. James Golden, an Adjudicator and Barrister (np) will also be included.
