Course Overview
This course is designed to cover the essential elements of Facilities Management and aid the Facilities Managers in their day to day operational delivery of services. Overview of Facilities Management – Definition of FM, The History of FM, The Important role of FM in the Business

Energy and Sustainability – waste reduction, energy efficiencies, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Customer Focus – service level agreements (SLA’s), managing expectations, team building

Security – Policies & procedures, dealing with threats, legislation compliance, Audits

Business Continuity – Procedures, planning, disaster recovery

Building Tour – An opportunity to visit & see behind the scenes of a building with a guided tour by a member of the FM team. Q&A discussion on completion
Module 2

Buildings and maintenance management – Planned maintenance, Asset Registers, statutory compliance

Health & Safety – Safety audits, ergonomics, Legislation, Health & safety responsibilities

Procurement & Sourcing of Service Contracts – service levels, tendering contracts, KPI’s

Space Planning – move management, relocation planning, understanding building space
Who should attend?
Essentials of Facilities Management is a comprehensive course designed for those who are new to FM and also for those with operational experience in FM and who wish to broaden their skill sets. It is also suitable for office managers, property managers, accommodation managers as well as those who are responsible for the provision and delivery of facilities management services.
Trainer's Profile
Pat Gaughan has over twenty years’ experience working at a senior level in Facilities Management both in Ireland and abroad. Most recently he has worked for CBRE as an Account Director in EMEA. Pat has also worked for a variety of blue chip companies such as Aviva, Virgin Media, Bilfinger and the National Museum. Pat is an experienced and qualified tutor and has previously delivered FM courses for BIFM. Pat has an Honours degree in European Studies and Law from UL and is a Qualified Lead Auditor. He is currently Chairman of BIFM Ireland.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Confirmation is subject to event fee being finalised. Cancellation fees calculated at 50% of the estimated total bill will be charge for confirmed bookings cancelled less than 5 working days prior to the date of the planned event. A replacement person can attend instead. Cancellations made the day prior to an event will be charged 75% of the total estimated bill. No-shows will be charged the full fee. All cancellations must be confirmed in writing by email. Engineers Ireland will not be liable for any costs in the event of a course being re-scheduled. This applies, but is not limited, to any travelling, subsistence or consequential expenses incurred by delegates.
