Course aim

Unconscious Bias refers to a bias that we are unaware of and which happens automatically when our brains make quick assessments of situations and people based on our own experiences and backgrounds. Unconsious Bias can result in some errors of judgement which can lead to mistakes in decision making and the way in which we treat other people.

This workshop provides an opportunity to explore what exactly Unconscious Bias is, how it manifests itself in the workplace and the effects of it. Throughout the course, delegates will learn how to create tools and develop methods which will enable them to be mindful of their own biases and address any changes required.

All delegates will become more aware of the impacts of unconscious bias in the workplace and how to address it to create a more inclusive structure.

Learning objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants will:

  • Be able to describe unconscious bias & its effects
  • Recognise some of their own bias
  • Recognise occurrences of unconscious bias in the workplace
  • Be able to identify and implement a range of measures to addressing unconscious bias
