Engineers Ireland is the representative body for professional engineers in Ireland. Through our strong links with industry, academia and government we advocate on behalf of the profession on policy matters of national interest. We also provide services to support the professional development of our members in Ireland and overseas. We are recruiting a Governance Executive to assist in fulfilling our vision and mission. This role is for a 2 year fixed term contract.

Reporting to the Registrar, you will:

  • Work with the Registrar and Director General to develop and institute best governance practice initiatives in Engineers Ireland.
  • Provide administrative support to our two governance groups: The Council of Engineers Ireland and the Executive Board of Engineers Ireland (including meeting scheduling, issuing agenda & papers, completing minutes & filing).
  • Provide administrative support to the Chairs of our Ethics & Disciplinary Board and Dispute Resolution Board.
  • Actively engage with external organisations in support of member’s needs (e.g. other professional bodies, colleges).
  • Support the Registrar in the maintenance of various registers, risk and data protection compliance.
  • Administer the day to day management of Director General’s diary and appointments and the President’s engagements calendar.
  • Other general Governance and Administrative tasks as required.

Personal Qualities

  • Self-motivation and experience of dealing with matters in a competent and confidential manner.
  • Very strong influencing skills, with a proven ability to balance multiple tasks in a busy environment.
  • Excellent organisation skills, co-ordination skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent level of conscientiousness in all written communications is a key requirement.
  • Knowledge of working across a range of on-line platforms and technologies is required.
  • Possess the gravitas to confidently interact with senior management in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
  • Ability to work with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative, energy and motivation with a proven history of implementing process improvements.
  • Candidates must have flexibility with regard to working hours. Travel and other associated expenses will be reimbursed.
  • Experience and knowledge of the operation and governance of a professional body.
