The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies across the European Economic Area (EEA) and aims to give individuals more rights, control and understanding of how their personal data is processed.

GDPR: What engineers need to know

On 11 April we hosted a presentation with a data protection expert called GDPR, what engineers need to know. It is available on our Engineers TV on this website. We would encourage all members to view the presentation here.

GDPR and Engineers Ireland

The GDPR will have no impact on the service we provide to you. It does however require Engineers Ireland to keep you informed of the following:

  1. The types of data we hold on you;
  2. The purpose it is used for; and
  3. Your rights in relation to how it is processed.

You will find all of this information in our updated Privacy Statement. This Statement is applicable to all activities carried out by Engineers Ireland.

In relation to job applicants for roles within Engineers Ireland, all applicants are asked to read our Data Privacy Notice for Job Applicants.

We have also added Section 8 to our Membership Regulations.

As always you can opt out of any of our group email communication using the unsubscribe link in the footer of all emails.

We value the trust that you place in us by giving us your personal information. We will always use your personal information in a way that is fair and worthy of that trust.

GDPR comes into effect on Friday 25 May 2018.
