Engineers Ireland welcomes new President of Royal Irish Academy Professor Michael Peter Kennedy, CEng FIEI

Engineers Ireland this afternoon (16 March 2017) warmly welcomed the appointment of Professor Michael Peter Kennedy, CEng FIEI as 56th President of the Royal Irish Academy.  Michael Kennedy is Professor of Microelectronic Engineering at University College Cork.
 
In 2004, Professor Kennedy was elected to membership of the Royal Irish Academy and was made a Fellow of Engineers Ireland by Presidential Invitation.
 
Engineers Ireland President, Dermot Byrne, said: “ We offer our warmest congratulations today to Professor Michael Peter Kennedy on his prestigious appointment as President of the Royal Irish Academy.  The Professor is one of this country’s leading engineers and is at the forefront of teaching innovation and learning. The Academy is fortunate to have someone with Michael’s personal qualities, talent, expertise and true leadership skills as President. We wish him every success in his role as he continues to advance the excellent work of the Royal Irish Academy.”
