The student award, now in its 21st year, provides a platform for third-level students to showcase their engineering innovation excellence to a panel of professional engineers, industry leaders and entrepreneurs. In addition to winning the coveted ‘Innovative Student Engineer of the Year’ title, the winning student or student team will also win a share of a €2,000 prize fund.

Category sponsor, Michael O’Connor, Communications Manager at Siemens, commented: “Siemens is committed to ensuring that young people have the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in meeting the challenges of a technology-led future.

“Our current third-level engineering students will play a core role in developing innovative solutions to overcome issues in industry and society, and to deliver on Government ambitions, such as those outlined in Project Ireland 2040. We are delighted to support the Innovative Student Engineer of the Year Award and provide a unique platform for students to demonstrate innovation and showcase creative thinking in preparation of becoming the engineering leaders of tomorrow,”Mr O’Connor added.

Caroline Spillane, Director General of Engineers Ireland commented: “As we enter the 21st year of the Innovative Student Engineer of the Year Award, we look forward to witnessing the creative excellence and ingenuity which is the hallmark of our third-level engineering students.
