Seminar Overview

Irish Water manages over 63,000kms of underground water pipe network and 795 water treatment plants to deliver drinking water to its customers.  A significant percentage of the public water network is in need of replacement and Irish Water is undertaking a national programme of works to reduce leakage and improve Ireland’s water supply over the next number of years. Leakage reduction is a critical role for any water utility and this seminar is framed in the strategic approach Irish Water is adopting for managing drinking water resources in future.

Irish Water’s Draft National Water Resources Plan, to be published later this year, is based on three key pillars, namely ‘Use Less’ (water conservation), ‘Lose Less’ (leakage reduction) & ‘Supply Smarter’ (building connected resilient infrastructure). During this seminar, a variety of national and international speakers across the water industry will reflect on their experiences of working in  water leakage reduction, water conservation campaigns & strategic supply of water to customers.

Seminar Aim

This seminar aims to bring engineers across the industry together to share their technical expertise on the tools, techniques and smart solutions available for reducing leakage. Key speakers will discuss Irish Water’s Water Conservation campaigns and experience in working with key customers in water stewardship. The National Water Resource Plan will be discussed and examined as a key strategic objective for Irish Water.

Learning Objectives

Delegates will gain:

  • An understanding of Irish Water’s national leakage programme, challenges to date and a roadmap to achieve future targets
  • Examination of operational innovation for pipe repair & leak detection and repair
  • An understanding of key learning and plans for water conservation campaigns
  • An appreciation of the National Water Resource Plan
