Patrick Briody & Sons Ltd  is a second generation family firm of water well drillers.We operate at all times professionally and with a hands-on approach to do the job right,continuously learning from our experience on how to use our skills and our equipment better to achieve  the best results for our clients. A successful water well should be an efficient hydrologic structure. Our client list include Irish Water,Commercial Clients,Consulting Engineers/Principal Contractors & domestic customers. 

Training aim

To present a practical account of current well drilling status in Ireland & advocate best practices in drilling & well rehabilitation.Also discuss the roles of hydrogeology,Lead Driller and Engineer.

Learning objectives

Outline components of drilling equipment & materials to undertake water well drilling & geothermal drilling. Also consider  all stages of the drilling process.

Examine best practices to undertake water well drilling in Ireland by reference to IGI "Water Well Guidelines” & EPA Advice Note 14 in particular borehole grouting/well sealing.

Consider the role of Hydrogeology,Lead Driller & Engineer on a drilling Project.

Outline  the fundamentals of well rehabilitation to improve well efficiency.

Course outline

30% of Irelands drinking water supply is sourced from groundwater wells.The drilling industry is unregulated.Proper well construction to IGI guidelines including well grouting is essential to protect groundwater quality and achieve sustainable supplies.The course considers  the  drilling process and promoting best practices.Also the role of the Lead Driller,Hydrogeology & Engineer is evaluated. The course concludes by summarily outlining geothermal drilling and well rehabilitation techniques.

Padraig Briody is Managing Director of Patrick Briody & Sons Ltd.The Company operate in a challenging and competitive market place environment.Therefore Padraig's  approach is practical and focussed on outlining the critical elements to well drilling in Ireland. He is sole trainer/presenter on this Course.In addition,Padraig provides business mentoring & training to small businesses and is a curriculum designer, writer and assessor  for various business courses with the State Agency;  Solas.
